
Zoran Milanović Re-Elected as President of Croatia
Zoran Milanović won the second round of the presidential elections and has been re-elected as President of Croatia. According to official data, he secured 78% of the votes, while his opponent, former Minister of Science, Education, and Sports Dragan Primorac, received 22%.
In the first round of elections held on December 29, Milanović fell short by just 1% to secure re-election. A total of 8 candidates participated in the elections. Dragan Primorac earned 19.4% of the vote.
The incumbent president, who has been in office since 2020, is known for his pro-Russian statements. He has repeatedly criticized Kyiv, calling it “the most corrupt country in the world.” Milanović has also condemned the EU’s military aid to Kyiv and the sanctions imposed on Moscow.
Zoran Milanović previously served as the Prime Minister of Croatia from 2011 to 2016 and led the Croatian Social Democratic Party.
