President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, has been arrested. He was arrested on charges related to a rebellion case. He has been taken to the Anti-Corruption Investigation Bureau for High-Ranking Officials. He has refused to testify. This information was reported by Yonhap News Agency.

An arrest warrant had been issued for the President of South Korea. On the evening of December 3, 2024, Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law in the country, but it was revoked 6 hours later. On December 14, the South Korean parliament impeached the president. However, he was allowed to continue exercising his powers until the Constitutional Court reached a decision.
On December 31, the court issued an arrest warrant for the president in connection with the rebellion case. It was tied to the events surrounding the declaration of martial law. On January 7, the court reaffirmed the arrest warrant. Local media reports suggest that the president is suspected of being one of the leaders of the rebellion.
Yoon Suk Yeol assumed office as President of the Republic of Korea on May 10, 2022. He is 64 years old.
