
The Question of Initiating Armenia’s Accession Process to the European Union to Be Discussed in Parliament on February 11
The question of initiating the process of Armenia’s accession to the European Union has been included in the agenda of the National Assembly’s plenary sessions. The decision was discussed and approved during the session of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration on January 24.
On January 9, the Armenian government approved the draft law “On Initiating the Process of Armenia’s Accession to the European Union.” The draft could be discussed in the National Assembly if more than 50,000 signatures were collected. Between July 22 and November 2024, the initiators collected over 60,000 signatures. On December 10, the Central Electoral Commission validated 52,351 of the signatures. The signature collection campaign was launched by the “EuroVote” initiative.
On January 24, Armen Yeghoyan, Chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration, announced that the question of initiating Armenia’s accession process to the European Union will be discussed during the NA plenary session on February 11.
