Fermentations within Civil Contract continue: Who will not be on the pre-election list?

National Assembly Member Hayk Sargsyan will appeal the decision of the “Civil Contract” party board regarding the rejection of his nomination for the pre-election list for the 2026 elections.

The MP made this statement on December 17 during a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly, emphasizing that he does not intend to reconcile with the decision and will exercise his right to appeal the decisions of party bodies. According to him, he had two options: either to accept the decision and remain off the next list or to appeal it. Sargsyan noted that he chose the second path.

Hayk Sargsyan hinted that the reason for not registering him is the tension that arose with some colleagues within the party, which, according to him, began after his legislative initiative to increase taxes on online casinos and gambling houses. The MP did not specify exactly with whom this tension exists. However, according to our data, his relations are strained with Alen Simonyan. The latter had even initiated disciplinary proceedings against Hayk Sargsyan in April, resulting in a severe reprimand. He also had conflicts with Andranik Kocharyan.

Additionally, in his conversation with journalists, he mentioned that if Tigran Avinyan had participated in the board meeting, he would not have been excluded because Tigran Avinyan is his friend. Later, he declared that Alen Simonyan is not his friend.

He also emphasized that he is one of the “long-time” members of the party and has joined the Prime Minister’s political struggle since 2006 within the framework of various movements.

As a reminder, around 380 applications were submitted for inclusion in the “Civil Contract” party’s pre-election list. Currently, the party board is conducting a so-called integrity check to determine which candidates’ names will be presented to the congress for inclusion in the list.

By the same decision, National Assembly MPs Karen Sarukhanyan and Julieta Azaryan were also not included in the pre-election list. Earlier, it became known that Khachatur Sukiasyan, Pashinyan’s brother-in-law Hrachya Hakobyan, Lena Nazaryan, and Kristine Poghosyan were also not included in the party list.
