Number of defendants in Vagharshapat city council election case reaches 23

Within the framework of the investigation into cases of electoral bribery recorded during the City Council elections in the Vagharshapat community, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against an additional 13 individuals. The Anti-Corruption Committee provided this information to Amnews.

According to the investigative body, the new defendants are suspected of receiving bribes in exchange for voting in favor of the “Hairenik” (Fatherland) Party during the elections held on November 16, 2025, as well as aiding the process of organized electoral bribery.

The preliminary investigation concerns the elections held in the Vagharshapat community. The criminal proceedings were initiated back in December 2025. Currently, the total number of defendants in the case stands at 23.

Earlier, we reported that within the scope of the electoral bribery cases recorded during the City Council elections held under the proportional system on November 16, 2025, in the Vagharshapat community, 10 individuals were arrested, including the former Deputy Governor of Armavir. Khachik Galstyan, the General Secretary of the “Hairenik” Party, and another party representative, Aram Kocharyan, were also among those arrested.
