The “Hanrapetutyun” (Republic) Party, led by Aram Zaveni Sargsyan, will participate in the 2026 elections.
The “Hanrapetutyun” Party, headed by Aram Zaveni Sargsyan, will take part in the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026. The decision was made during an expanded meeting of the party’s political council held on January 22.
According to information released by the party, Albert Hovasapyan, a party member and the head of the Davtashen administrative district, has been appointed as the chief of the pre-election headquarters. The party noted that they will continue organizational and political work in the coming period to ensure full participation in the elections.
As a reminder, regular parliamentary elections in Armenia, according to preliminary data, are scheduled to be held on June 7, 2026. A number of political actors have already announced their participation in the elections.
Specifically, the second President of the RA, Robert Kocharyan, and the former Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of the RA, Arman Tatoyan, with his newly formed “Wings of Unity” initiative, have expressed readiness to join the political process. Additionally, the “Mer Dzevov” (In Our Way) movement has announced its participation; its ideological leader, Samvel Karapetyan, has been in custody since June 18.
Former Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan has also announced his participation in the parliamentary elections with his “Nor Uzh” (New Force) party. The Armenian National Congress (ANC/HAK) has also submitted a political bid, nominating Levon Zurabyan as its candidate for Prime Minister.
Thus, ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections, the political field is gradually becoming more active, and the circle of forces that have applied to participate in the elections is already taking shape. It is not yet clear who will support whom or who will form alliances. However, it is already evident that the elections will take place in a heated atmosphere.
