The International Court of Justice has given Armenia and Azerbaijan one year
The International Court of Justice has given Armenia and Azerbaijan one year to prepare documents regarding cases of racial discrimination. This was announced on the Court’s official social media platform, X.
In 2021, Armenia initiated legal proceedings against Azerbaijan over racial discrimination. In its claim, Armenia accused Azerbaijan of decades-long actions against Armenians, which intensified during the 44-day war in 2020.
2 days after Armenia’s submission, on September 23, Azerbaijan filed a counterclaim against Armenia, alleging that Yerevan had engaged in and continues to engage in discriminatory actions against Azerbaijanis in the region due to their ethnic origin.
By November 12, 2025, Yerevan and Baku must submit their documents.
