The Controversial Bus Stop on Ohanyan Street
For nearly a month now, a stop sign has been installed on Ohanyan Street in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, which has become a source of confusion and conflicts for both pedestrians and drivers. Drivers often do not stop there, claiming that the stop is unofficial and that local residents installed it. Citizens point to the stop sign and insist that vehicles are required to stop in that area. However, drivers do not have a unified stance on the matter. Some stop at the location, while others do not.
In an interview with AMNEWS, the Transport Department of the City Hall confirmed that the installation of the sign was illegal, as it was done without the proper permits.
This is the result of unauthorized activity. The residents installed the sign on their own initiative. By the way, if the person responsible for the installation is identified, they will be subject to administrative penalties. Interestingly, a legally established stop is located 200-250 meters above, where vehicles are required to stop.
However, the controversy deepens, as the map displayed in the YandexGo app, which shows stops and vehicle movement, clearly marks a stop in that area.
The map developers saw the sign and were unaware that it could be unauthorized. This is probably where the confusion originates, – the Transport Department noted.
Nevertheless, the sign is still in the same location today.
