It is proposed to reduce the duration of working hours
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has proposed amendments to the “Labor Code.” According to these amendments, it is planned to reduce the duration of working hours to 7–8 hours per day and 35–40 hours per week. However, this change should not affect people’s salaries.
The rationale for the program states that this model has been implemented in various countries worldwide since the mid-19th century. Flexible working hours have already been adopted in several countries, such as France, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, and others. In countries like Iceland, New Zealand, and elsewhere, people work four days a week.
International experience shows that reducing working hours does not harm the economy but instead contributes to improving the quality of life and increasing productivity. Furthermore, studies indicate that long working hours can lead to health problems.
The draft was published on the Unified Platform for Legal Acts. And received 346 votes in favor within a day.
