Tigran Avinyan will reimburse the expenses for the plane ticket to the USA
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has decided to reimburse the expenses for the plane ticket to the USA. During a debate with Tigran Avinyan on December 18, Hayk Marutyan revealed that the mayor’s ticket to Los Angeles had cost 7,650,000 AMD (around $20,000).
This has become one of the most criticized and, I must say, rightly criticized topics in recent times. After our recent visit to the USA, I learned about the ticket prices purchased for me personally. Honestly, I was somewhat shocked by these numbers, but I later realized that there was a certain issue of general irresponsibility and indifference. Tickets for the November 22 trip were purchased on November 20, and if we had delayed by even one day, we might have paid double or triple the price. I have decided to fully reimburse this expense myself, – stated Avinyan.
During the debate with Avinyan, Marutyan mentioned that the cost of the ticket to Los Angeles equaled the annual property tax of residents in a 9-story, 43-apartment building in the Avan district.
The delegation led by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan traveled to the USA from November 23 to 30. The delegation included nine members, among them an advisor, the head of the Kentron district administration, and others.
