The legislative package on surveillance systems in public places has been withdrawn from circulation. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
At a session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense and Security, Arpine Sargsyan, then Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, presented a legislative package proposed by the government and Civil Contract MP Hayk Sargsyan, stating that they intended to install surveillance systems in ambulances and public transport.
A new proposal is being advanced, suggesting that the Ministry of Internal Affairs be granted access to the surveillance systems of local self-government bodies and state institutions.
The previous draft specified that the Ministry of Internal Affairs should have access to surveillance cameras of banks, credit organizations, pawnshops, pharmacies, currency exchange offices with separate entrances, postal service facilities, public electronic communication service areas, educational institutions, and a number of other entities.
It was also proposed to install surveillance cameras in trade centers with an area exceeding 100 square meters, liquid fuel retail outlets, retail trade points, and public catering facilities with an area of more than 50 square meters.
