Court-Annulled “Red Lines” Decision Approved in City Council Meeting

Recently, it was reported that the Administrative Court had annulled the decision on parking fee rates. These rates, adopted by the Yerevan City Council, had come into effect on January 1.

Today, the ruling faction of the City Council reintroduced the same issue during a council meeting and approved it. Out of 53 registered council members, 32 voted in favor, none opposed, and one abstained. A quorum would not have been reached if one member had been absent.

The opposition factions “Mother Armenia” and “National Progress” boycotted the session, stating that the court’s decision to annul the increase in “red lines” fees proved its illegality.

In response, Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan noted that the court’s decision had not yet come into legal force. There is still time to appeal.

Last year, the Yerevan City Council had approved new parking fee rates. In the city center, “red line” parking fees increased from 12,000 AMD to 160,000 AMD per year.

Outside the city center, the annual fee was set at 24,000 AMD.
