Yerevan’s Old Buses to Be Fully Phased Out Starting January 1

Armen Galjyan, head of the “Civil Contract” faction in Yerevan’s City Council, announced that starting January 1, 2025, the operation of old “Hyundai” small-class buses will cease. The 9 routes currently served by these buses will transition to being served by new “Zhongtong” buses. All public transportation in Yerevan will be operated by the Yerevan Municipality. Of the 76 existing routes, 29 will undergo fleet upgrades.
Specifically:

Additionally, six routes currently served by “Higer” buses will see their fleets replaced with new buses, increasing the number of vehicles on routes 45 and 54.

The fleet size for the nine routes served by “Zhongtong” buses will increase by 14 units in total, specifically:

Based on operational efficiency, route N64 will be operated by “GAZelle City” minibuses with a fleet of 8 vehicles.

Minibus route N40 will be converted into route N60 and operated by “Higer” buses with 7 vehicles.

Minibus route N55A will be converted into route N66 and operated by “Higer” buses with 5 vehicles.

The fleet size for minibus routes N26, 42, and 75 will each be increased by one vehicle.
