Snow in Vardenyats pass, Artik and Ashotsk sections: Road situation report
As of December 8, 10:00 AM, precipitation in the form of snow is observed in Vardenyats Pass, as well as in the regions of Artik and Ashotsk. In Meghri Pass and in the sections of Aparan and Vayk, precipitation is in the form of sleet (mixed rain and snow). The information is reported by the “Road Department” Foundation.
Rainfall is observed in the regions of Artashat, Ararat, Yeghegnadzor, Goris, Sisian, Aragats, Armavir, and Martuni.
Fog is present on the roadways in the regions of Sevan and Goris, as well as on the Spitak curves, with visibility reduced to about 50 meters.
All interstate and republican significance highways in the Republic of Armenia (RA) are open. The companies servicing the roads continue to carry out cleaning and salt-sand treatment work.
The Road Department urges drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and travel exclusively with winter tires.
At the same time, it is reminded that, according to the information from the Roads Department of Georgia, the Upper Lars checkpoint is closed for heavy and oversized trucks. Movement of trucks with trailers and semi-trailers is temporarily prohibited on the Gudauri–Kobi section of the “Mtskheta–Stephantsminda–Lars” highway. The checkpoint operates only for passenger vehicles.
