Medical insurance wll Be mandatory for foreigners entering Georgia starting from 2026

Starting from January 1, 2026, all foreigners entering Georgia must have mandatory medical insurance. The information is reported by the National Tourism Administration of Georgia.

The insurance coverage must amount to at least 30,000 Lari (approximately 12,000 US dollars). The insurance must include compensation for emergency outpatient care expenses of at least $5,000, as well as inpatient treatment expenses of at least $30,000, including services for accidents, injuries, sudden illnesses, and medical evacuation.

Foreigners without insurance may be denied entry across the border. The insurance must be valid for the entire period of stay in Georgia. Border services will have the right to request the document confirming the insurance both at airports and at land checkpoints.

In case of violations, a fine of 300 Lari (approximately 43,000 drams) will be applied; for a repeated violation, the fine will be doubled.
