State to provide monthly allowance of 50,000 AMD for third and subsequent children until age 6
Starting from 2026, the State of the Republic of Armenia (RA) will provide a monthly allowance of 50,000 AMD for the third and each subsequent child in a family until they reach the age of 6. This is due to new amendments made to the Law “On State Benefits,” which were adopted today by the National Assembly in the second and final reading. Sixty-six (66) deputies voted in favor of the law’s adoption, 5 abstained, and there were no votes against.
According to the new regulation, the one-time birth allowance for the third and subsequent children will be 500,000 AMD. The allowances will be provided only to those children who obtain RA citizenship within one year after birth.
Under the previous regulation in Armenia, the birth allowance for the first and second children was 300,000 AMD each, for the third and fourth children, it was one million AMD each, and for the fifth and subsequent children, it was 1.5 million AMD.
Earlier, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Arsen Torosyan, clarified that in 2024 alone, 1,450 such one-time birth allowances were given for children who are children of RA citizens but were born in another country, have a birth certificate from another country, and are not registered in our civil status records.
“Now we are also regulating this issue with the following logic: if they come and register within 1 year after birth—meaning they assume RA citizenship—they will receive the money; if they do not assume it, they will not receive it. The same applies to the 50,000 AMD payments. In the case of the 3rd and subsequent children, if they come and register, they will receive the allowance from the moment of registration, even if that is at 2 or 3 years of age. That is, they will receive it from the moment of registration until they turn 6, but not before that,” the Minister noted.
