Crimes Registered in 2024 Decreased Compared to the Previous Year
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the number of crimes registered in Armenia in 2024 decreased by 1.1% or 434 cases compared to the previous year, totaling 40,232 cases (40,666 in 2023).
In the overall structure of crime, the majority of registered cases (81.4%) were minor (51.0%) and medium-severity (30.4%) crimes. The ministry notes that this result is due to both institutional and long-term solutions, as well as a focus on preventive and enhanced services. Specifically, methodological changes were implemented to prevent certain types of crimes, such as theft and the illegal circulation of narcotics.
According to operational summaries, 1,579 firearms were discovered and voluntarily surrendered in 2024. Nevertheless, crimes involving the use of firearms remain a concern.
