There will be controllers in public transport

Starting from February 1, controllers will be present in Yerevan’s public transport. This was announced by Armen Galjyan, the leader of the “Civil Contract” faction of Yerevan’s City Council. Information has been circulated that they will impose control to prevent public boycotts.

The Mayor’s press secretary, Hayk Kostanyan, informed that the control will be aimed at monitoring the frequency of routes, external and internal cleanliness, ensuring drivers’ proper attire, overseeing interaction rules with passengers, and more. In other words, they will be overseeing the work of drivers.

An extraordinary session of Yerevan’s City Council will take place on January 31 to discuss the agenda of setting the fare for a single ride at 150 drams. At the same time, all existing ticket packages, including the 300 dram option valid for 180 minutes, will remain available. The option to purchase 10 single ride tickets at 1500 drams will also remain in the Telsel app.

The 150 dram fare had also sparked discussions because terminals do not accept 50 dram coins. However, the city council has found a solution to this issue, offering to pay 300 drams and receive two tickets at once.

It is worth noting that starting from February 1, it will no longer be possible to travel with a 100 dram ticket; citizens will need to use one of the packages offered by the city authorities or pay 150 drams for a single ride.
