Road issues arise in Yerevan due to salt usage; pothole filling to begin

The large-scale application of salt and sand during snow removal operations in Yerevan has caused issues with the road surface. This was announced by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during the municipality’s executive meeting.

According to him, a significant amount of salt accumulated on the streets following the snow removal work, which negatively affected the condition of the roads and increased the risk of pothole formation.

Sasha Katvalyan, Director of the “Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning” institution, stated that all community machinery is being mobilized daily across various administrative districts, and the main cleaning operations are expected to be completed within approximately 15 days.

The Mayor emphasized that the large volume of salt used this year has led to additional problems, necessitating extensive pothole filling. According to Andranik Tevosyan, Acting Head of the Construction and Improvement Department, local interventions have already been carried out several times, and the primary pothole-filling activities will launch at the end of this week.

Avinyan instructed that the process be organized more intensively and at the fastest possible pace.
