The process of issuing refugee certificates to forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh has begun
Persons who have received temporary protection and whose certificates are valid until December 31, 2024, can now apply to any territorial division of the Migration and Citizenship Service to extend the validity of their cards. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Service is provided on-site by taking a ticket, without prior appointments. The temporary protection certificate is issued based on a valid passport.
If a person who has received a refugee certificate is abroad and plans to return to Armenia, they can present their passport. However, if they intend to travel to another country, they should contact the Armenian consulate in their current country of residence.
Forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh can also obtain Armenian citizenship through an expedited procedure. To do so, they need to apply to the Migration and Citizenship Service. After acquiring citizenship, the Artsakh passport is not stamped and is returned to the individuals.
