Air pollution in 2024 has reached record levels

Reports from the COP29 climate conference reveal that in 2024, the levels of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen, and other greenhouse gases have risen and may continue to increase in 2025, leading to potentially catastrophic climate changes.

Global carbon dioxide emissions in 2024 are projected to reach 41.6 billion tons, up from 40.6 billion tons last year. The majority of these emissions come from the burning of coal, oil, and gas. Wildfires and deforestation also account for a portion of the emissions.

To address this issue, the transition to renewable energy sources and the use of electric vehicles have been considered. However, this is being implemented unevenly across countries. Emissions in economically wealthy countries have gradually decreased, while those in newly developing countries have grown.

Nevertheless, there is a plan to sharply reduce emissions by 2030.
