Irrigation and Drinking Water Networks Built in Gegharkunik Province
In the Martuni community of Gegharkunik Province, the construction of irrigation and drinking water networks in several settlements has been completed as part of the 2024 program.
An internal irrigation pipeline network has been constructed in the Vaghashen settlement. Its length is 1,460 meters. The network is designed to irrigate 30% of the village’s household plots.
In the Artsvanist settlement, a drinking water pipeline approximately 9,000 meters long has been built. According to the community administration, the village has always faced issues with drinking water supply.
The asbestos water pipeline, which has been in operation since 1951 and descends from the mountains, had become outdated, with broken sections and moss buildup inside that caused numerous blockages. The residents considered the lack of quality and insufficient drinking water to be their number one vital issue, – noted the community administration.
The newly constructed water pipeline will be put into operation in the coming days.
