Simon Martirosyan will not participate in the World Weightlifting Championship

The World Weightlifting Championship will begin in Manama, Bahrain, on December 6. One of Armenia’s strongest weightlifters, Simon Martirosyan, will miss the competition due to an injury. This was announced by the official website of the Armenian National Olympic Committee (ANOC).

Armenia will send 10 weightlifters to Bahrain, including two women. The ANOC website has provided the competition schedule for Armenian athletes:

December 7 — 61 kg B group, Garik Cholakyan, start at 16:00

December 8 — 55 kg A group, Alexandra Grigoryan, start at 21:00

December 9 — 67 kg A group, Gor Sahakyan, start at 21:00

December 11 — 89 kg A group, Andranik Karapetyan, start at 21:00

December 12 — 96 kg A group, Hakob Mkrtchyan, Davit Hovhannisyan, start at 18:30

December 13 — 102 kg A group, Ara Aghanyan, start at 21:00

December 14 — 109 kg B group, Petros Petrosyan, start at 14:00

December 14 — 109 kg A group, Garik Karapetyan, start at 18:30

December 14 — 87 kg A group, Tatev Hakobyan, start at 21:00

December 15 — 109+ kg A group, Varazdat Lalayan, start at 18:30

At the 2023 World Championship, Armenia won two medals: Gor Sahakyan took the bronze in the 67 kg category, and Varazdat Lalayan won silver in the super heavyweight category.
