Weightlifting World Championship: Garnik Cholakyan Wins in Group B
22-year-old Armenian weightlifter Garnik Cholakyan emerged victorious in the B group of the 61 kg weight category at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Bahrain.
In the snatch event, Cholakyan lifted 130 kg, and in the clean and jerk, he successfully lifted a 150 kg barbell. With a total of 280 kg in the biathlon, Cholakyan was declared the winner. Armenia does not have participants in the A group of this weight category.
In October of this year, Cholakyan won the gold medal at the European Under-23 Weightlifting Championships in Raszyn, Poland. He has significantly improved his performance. In October, he claimed the gold medal with a total of 255 kg, whereas now he achieved 280 kg.
Cholakyan is also the champion of the 2022 Junior World Championships.
