At the Weightlifting World Championship, Garik Karapetyan won a silver medal in the youth category but was unable to continue the competition due to an injury
Garik Karapetyan, a member of the Armenian men’s weightlifting team in the 109 kg weight class, won a silver medal in the clean and jerk event at the World Championship in Bahrain.
He successfully lifted 183 kg in his first attempt. In his second attempt, Karapetyan was unable to lift 188 kg. During his third attempt, he injured his shoulder and fell onto the competition platform. After receiving medical assistance, Karapetyan left the platform on his own.
However, Karapetyan decided not to continue the competition in the clean and jerk event.
In the 109 kg men’s B group, Armenia’s Petros Petrosyan showed an 11th-place result with a total of 360 kg. Petrosyan lifted 155 kg in the snatch and 205 kg in the clean and jerk.
