
Australian Open: Karen Khachanov Advances to the Third Round
Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov, who has Armenian roots, has progressed to the third round of the Australian Open.
In the year’s first major tournament, Khachanov faced the world’s 86th-ranked player, Gabriel Diallo from Canada.
The match between Khachanov and Diallo lasted 3 hours and 14 minutes. Khachanov won the first set in a tiebreak with a score of 7-4. He lost the second set 6-4. In the following two sets, the world’s 19th-ranked player secured consecutive 6-3, 6-3 victories, advancing to the third round of the tournament.
The Australian Open began on January 12. The final scheduled for January 26. The reigning men’s singles champion is Jannik Sinner from Italy, while Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus holds the women’s singles title.
