Gymnast Harutyun Merdinyan Ends His Professional Career
Harutyun Merdinyan, a member of the Armenian national gymnastics team, bronze medalist at the World Championships in the pommel horse event, and double European champion, is ending his professional gymnastics career. Merdinyan mentioned that the main reasons for his decision are age and health issues.
The main reasons for the decision are age and the pains that have become chronic. The problems with my wrists, shoulders, and spine have increased to the point where I can no longer train fully. Even treatments are not helping. It’s very hard to leave sports. My mind tells me I can still do something, but my body just doesn’t allow it anymore. Also, I’ve done as much as I could in sports, and I’ll be satisfied with that.
However, by ending his professional career, he will not completely leave gymnastics and will continue to assist the national team in upcoming competitions. He is also confident that the next generation will bring great success to Armenia in gymnastics.
I will be with the team. Together with Vahag Davtyan, we will conduct training sessions. If I can help the team with my knowledge, I will be very happy. In my opinion, we will achieve even better results in the future.
