
It has been announced who has been nominated for the position of Governor of Armavir Province
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that Argishti Mekhakyan has been nominated for the position of Governor of Armavir Province.
On November 26, a session of the Civil Contract Party’s board took place. During the session, Pashinyan approved the chairpersons of the councils of Vayk, Ijevan, and Vedi communities. Their names have not yet been disclosed.
The candidate for Armavir Governor, Argishti Mekhakyan, is the head of the Khoi community in Armavir Province. Mekhakyan studied at the Nersisyan School in Echmiadzin until 2003 and graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Yerevan State University in 2007.
The economist’s political career began in 2018 when he was elected as a Member of Parliament from the “My Step” Alliance’s territorial electoral list in Electoral District No. 6.
On December 3, 2020, he resigned his parliamentary mandate.
On December 15, 2020, he was appointed Deputy Governor of Armavir Province. He was dismissed from this position on December 5, 2021.
During the December 5, 2021, local self-government elections, he led the proportional list of the “Civil Contract” Party in the Khoi community and was elected as the head of the Khoi community.
The Governor of Armavir, Davit Khudatyan, was recently appointed Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
