In Armenia, people prefer to go to work on foot rather than by bus

One of the traffic issues in Armenia is not only public transport but also the production of automobiles and other vehicles, specifically carbon dioxide emissions.

According to Numbeo, each driver in Armenia produces 651.83 kg of CO2 while commuting to work or taking children to school. To offset this carbon emission, approximately 29.94 trees would be needed for each passenger to produce sufficient oxygen.

The main means of transportation for commuting to work or school in Armenia is the car. Interestingly, people tend to prefer walking over using buses or trolleybuses.

This level of carbon is quite high in Armenia, despite the fact that only Georgia among the neighboring countries has a lower figure (550.05 kg CO2).

The situation in neighboring countries is as follows:

  • Azerbaijan: 1014.20 kg CO2
  • Iran: 1695.71 kg CO2
  • Turkey: 1394.26 kg CO2
