Armenia acquires V-BAT unmanned aerial vehicles from the U.S.
Armenia has acquired V-BAT unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the United States. This was announced by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with U.S. Vice President JD Vance in Yerevan.
According to the Prime Minister, the effectiveness of these UAVs has been proven by extensive operational experience, and they will significantly contribute to strengthening Armenia’s defense capabilities. He also noted that the transaction, carried out within the framework of the “Foreign Military Sales” (FMS) program, could serve as a foundation for the further expansion of Armenian-American cooperation.
Pashinyan emphasized that the U.S. aims to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Armenia also in the fields of mineral extraction and ensuring supply chains for rare minerals.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance, in his turn, stated that a $11 million sale of reconnaissance drone technologies has been approved for Armenia, noting that this acquisition will contribute to sustainable peace.
“President Trump knows very well that the best way to ensure peace is the dissemination and deployment of the best military technologies. And for the first time, we are announcing a major sale of military technologies: $11 million worth of reconnaissance UAV technology for the Armenians and our good friend, the Prime Minister. This also means the creation of additional jobs and investments,” the U.S. Vice President declared.
JD Vance arrived in Armenia on an official visit on February 9 and plans to depart for Azerbaijan the following day.
