January: a record month for tourist visits
January 2026 has become a historic month for Armenia’s tourism sector. This was announced by the RA Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan.
According to the Minister, 179,409 tourists visited Armenia in January 2026, which is approximately 39% more than in the same period last year, when 139,482 tourist visits were recorded. In January 2024, for example, 154,319 people visited Armenia, and in 2023, the figure was 159,475.
According to statistical data published by the Tourism Committee, the highest number of tourist visits to Armenia in January 2026 was recorded from Russia (41%), Georgia (12%), and Iran (8%).
Data is also presented by gender and age groups. In January of this year, 60% of those who visited Armenia were men. 25% of the tourists were visitors aged 35-44.
