Further cases of organizing dogfights uncovered

Officers of the Tashir Division of the Community Police have uncovered several cases of cruelty to animals related to the organization of dogfights.

On February 5, the police received information according to which, in the summer of 2025, two young men—a 17-year-old resident of Privolnoye and an 18-year-old resident of Medovka village—organized a dogfight in a field adjacent to Privolnoye village. As a result of the fight, the dogs sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Another case occurred in the winter of 2025 in a field adjacent to the Medovka community. This time, the dogfight was organized by two men—a 42-year-old resident of Medovka village and a 53-year-old resident of the city of Tashir. An 18-year-old resident of Medovka village also participated in the incident, filming the dogfight and posting the video on his social media page. In this case as well, the dogs sustained injuries.

Documents compiled regarding both cases have been submitted to the preliminary investigation body.

It should be recalled that cruelty to animals, including the organization or conduct of animal fighting, is considered a criminally punishable act under the legislation of the Republic of Armenia.
