The Civil Contract Party (CCP) has nominated a candidate for the position of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council

The Civil Contract Party has nominated Aleksandr Sirunyan for the position of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council. This was announced by the National Assembly.

Aleksandr Sirunyan is a lawyer. He was born in 1971 in the Republic of Georgia. In 1993, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Law and is an associate professor. Since 2001, he has been teaching at the Department of Civil Procedure at Yerevan State University.

In 2023, Aleksandr Sirunyan was accused of defaming a former Deputy Minister of Defense. On October 9 and November 2, 2019, he made publications and stated in an interview that the Deputy Minister had embezzled $220,000, manipulated a procurement tender for military equipment, and abused his position for illegal actions.

The criminal cases related to these allegations were closed after the parties reached a settlement agreement. Former Deputy Minister of Defense, Makary Ghambaryan, had filed a lawsuit in the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, demanding 2,000,000 AMD in compensation from Aleksandr Sirunyan.
