In the past three months, taxis have generated 23 million drams worth of VAT receipts

Taxis have generated 23 million drams worth of VAT receipts in 3 months. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on December 4 during the government session, noting that there were some concerns about the introduction of VAT receipts in this sector, but time has shown that the decision was correct.

Since September 1, all types of taxi service providers—whether individual drivers or drivers on online platforms—are required to enter the tax system, report to the state, and pay taxes.

This decision sparked a lot of controversy, as many drivers claim they cannot meet these requirements with their income. Individual taxi drivers are dissatisfied. Because the regulations benefit the growth of online platforms. And make it less viable to drive a taxi. On the other hand, the new system will have little impact on drivers using online platforms, as the service handles accounting and several technical issues.

Despite all this, the additional tax will not be collected from the income of online services but will result in higher taxi fares.
