Davit Arushanyan will be nominated for the position of Governor of Shirak Province
Davit Arushanyan, who recently resigned from his parliamentary mandate, will be nominated for the position of Governor of Shirak Province. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in a post on his Facebook page.
After stepping down, Arushanyan stated that his resignation was due to plans to transition to another job.
During the primaries held in Gyumri from December 8-10, Davit Arushanyan, considered a candidate for the Shirak governor position, participated and received the second-highest number of votes, with 220 votes. The winner of the primaries was the independent candidate Sarik Minasyan, who received 253 votes.
Arushanyan was born in Gyumri. In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography at the Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute named after M. Nalbandyan, specializing in ecological geography. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Civil Contract Party. On October 26, 2022, he was elected a Member of Parliament from the Civil Contract Party’s nationwide electoral list.
It should be noted that during the government session on December 12, Prime Minister Pashinyan announced that Shirak Governor Mushegh Muradyan had submitted his resignation.
Previously, the Prime Minister had publicly reprimanded Muradyan during a government meeting. The issue was related to naming one of the rooms at Vahramaberd School after a high-ranking official currently serving in the Armed Forces.
