Scuffle and Fighting at Artik Penitentiary Institution
On October 24, five convicts at the Artik Penitentiary Institution disrupted the normal operation of the facility by subjecting security staff to violence.
The inmates serving sentences—A.T., H.T., A.G., T.Gh., and A.H.—failed to comply with the lawful demands of the staff during their walk time. They began to shove, deliver irregular blows, and utter sexually explicit insults toward the facility’s security staff, driving them out.
Specifically, H.T. inflicted bodily harm by kicking and punching Captain of Justice V.B., the person in charge of the duty group, on various parts of his body.
In connection with the incident, a criminal proceeding was initiated on October 25 at the Artik and Ani Investigative Division under the features of Part 2 of Article 454 of the RA Criminal Code (Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia). As a result of the crime, the normal operation of the institution was disrupted, and the case is being investigated by law enforcement bodies.
