Armenia’s First Satellite Completes its Mission: What did it Achieve?

Armenia’s first Earth observation satellite, “Armsat-1,” has entered the controlled de-orbit phase, signifying the completion of the program. The information was announced by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia.

The government assesses the launch of “Armsat-1” as a crucial step that ushered Armenia into a new era of space technologies. Over three and a half years, the satellite provided dozens of space images of Armenia and the region, which were utilized for scientific and applied purposes.

According to the Ministry, key achievements of the program also include the training of specialists and the formation of a team capable of designing, managing, and processing data for new satellite projects.

The results from “Armsat-1” are already being applied in the design work for the next generation of Earth observation and communication satellites. The technical requirements for the “Armsat-2” satellite have been defined, and cooperation with international partners in this direction continues.
