Cases of Hong Kong Flu Recorded Again in Armenia: What to Do

A case of Influenza A subtype H3N2 (Hong Kong Flu) has been confirmed in Armenia. According to data from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDCP), this subtype was detected through laboratory tests during the 45th week of the 2025–2026 season.

The main symptoms of the flu are high fever, sore throat and respiratory tract congestion, cough, headache, and muscle aches. The illness can cause complications, especially in children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic diseases.

The NCDCP recommends seasonal vaccination, staying home in case of illness, not sending children to school and kindergarten, and avoiding contact with people who have a respiratory infection. The Center urges against self-medication and the use of antibiotics without a doctor’s prescription.

At the same time, according to the data of the Statistical Committee of Armenia, one case of meningococcal infection was recorded in October. This disease is rarer but can develop with severe complications, including hemorrhage. It is transmitted through airborne droplets. 1-10% of the population can be carriers of the bacteria without symptoms. The main signs of the disease are high fever, severe headache, nausea, vomiting, as well as a specific reddish-purple rash on the skin.
