The Custody of Tigran Galstyan, Involved in the “Srbazan paykar” (“Holy Struggle”) Case, Has Been Changed
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has decided to change the detention measure applied to businessman Tigran Galstyan, who is involved in the “Holy Struggle” case, by imposing combined restrictive measures: administrative supervision and prohibition of absence.
According to Judge Karen Farkhoyan, the grounds for the former detention have decreased, and after the expiry of the home detention term on November 25, 2025, the new restrictive measure will apply to the defendant.
Galstyan’s defense lawyer emphasized that his health condition is serious: he has issues with his prostate and musculoskeletal system and appeared in court from the “Izmirlian” Medical Center.
“He is in the hospital; how can house arrest be applied? In the case of administrative supervision, I will ensure his presence in court, and the judicial process will not be disrupted,” the lawyer noted.
It should be recalled that Tigran Galstyan’s custody was last extended on August 28 for three months. The “Holy Struggle” case was initiated after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan published materials on June 24, which indicated that opposition circles were planning a state coup. This was followed by a series of searches and arrests.
According to the Investigative Committee, the participants and leaders of the “Holy Struggle” movement planned actions that could have been aimed at terrorism and seizing power.
