Yerevan City Hall tightens control over Nubarashen landfill and construction developers

The installation of barriers and lighting poles has been completed at the Nubarashen landfill located at 4 Nubarashen Highway in Yerevan, while the installation of video cameras is ongoing. Vahan Arushanyan, Deputy Director of “New Landfill” CJSC, informed about this during the City Hall’s working consultation.

According to him, all entrances and exits of the landfill are now under control: the entry of unauthorized persons is excluded, 29 lighting poles have been installed, and a new lighting network has been set up. Cleaning, covering with a layer of soil, and work ensuring the unimpeded passage of equipment have been carried out at the landfill. In addition, an area of about 5,000 square meters has been separated, leveled, and covered with asphalt scraping to facilitate the operation of garbage trucks.

It should be noted that the number of fires at the Nubarashen landfill had increased recently. Regarding the last fire, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan stated that the outbreak was not accidental and was the result of a deliberate action.

During the consultation, Mayor Tigran Avinyan also addressed construction in the city. He instructed that a list of construction developers with the most recorded violations for the absence of dust-absorbing nets during work be presented within the week.

The City Hall announces that control will be further tightened in the future to reduce urban pollution and safety risks.
