Visit of Armenian Civil Society Members to Baku Concludes
On November 21-22, Baku hosted the latest meeting of the “Bridge of Peace” initiative, during which a group of civil society representatives from Armenia traveled to Azerbaijan. The purpose of the visit was to assess the dynamics of the peace process, re-evaluate dialogue formats, and develop new mechanisms for cooperation.
The discussions were attended by Areg Kochinyan, Boris Navasardyan, Naira Sultanyan, Narek Minasyan, and Samvel Meliksetyan from Armenia. The Azerbaijani side was represented by Farhad Mammadov, Rusif Huseynov, Kamala Mammadova, Ramil Iskandarli, and Fuad Abdullayev.
The participants noted that contacts between the civil societies of the two countries continue to play an important role in reconciling positions, building mutual trust, and forming a peace-building environment. Opportunities for expanding cooperation in the media sphere, activating contacts between experts, and creating new formats for public exchanges were also discussed.
During the visit to Baku, representatives of the initiative also met with Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan. The discussion focused on the steps taken by Armenia and Azerbaijan since the recent Washington meeting, aimed at strengthening the peace agenda.
The parties announced that they plan to continue bilateral contacts and organize new visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future.
