FSAB denies allegations regarding kazakh wheat

Discussions regarding wheat imported from Kazakhstan continue on social platforms.

In response, the Food Safety Inspection Body (FSIB) has once again stated that sampling was conducted from wheat batches imported from both Russia and Kazakhstan.

Laboratory testing was carried out by the “Republican Center for Veterinary-Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services” SNCO, operating under the FSIB, in three main areas.

First, phytosanitary tests were performed; no quarantine harmful organisms were found during entomological, phytopathological, and herbological examinations.

Second, safety indicator tests were conducted, which showed that no deviations from the maximum allowable concentrations were recorded.

Third, quality indicator tests were performed. Based on the assessment of protein mass fraction, gluten content, moisture, and organoleptic indicators (color, smell), the sample imported from Russia corresponded to 2nd-grade wheat, while the one imported from Kazakhstan corresponded to 3rd-grade wheat.

According to the FSIB, the claims that “Kazakh wheat was grown in nuclear testing areas” are not substantiated by any international or officially confirmed source.
