Strategic cooperation document between Armenia and Iran under preparation

A document on strategic cooperation is being prepared between Armenia and Iran. This was announced by the newly appointed Ambassador of Iran to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, during a press conference on January 14.

The Ambassador noted that the document is still in the drafting stage and expressed hope that it will be signed within this year during a high-level meeting between the two countries.

According to him, the cooperation will cover various sectors, including railway connection projects on the Julfa-Nakhichevan-Yerevan section, the development of trade and economic relations, the organization of joint production, and the establishment of free trade zones.

He added that cooperation between the two countries spans various fields. It is necessary to ensure the implementation of the project to establish a railway connection between the two countries, specifically the Julfa-Nakhichevan route with Yerevan as the final destination.

The Ambassador emphasized that trade and economic relations between the two countries must reach a point where joint production is established and free trade zones are created.
