Criminal group committing thefts from terminals uncovered: participants arrested
A criminal group committing thefts from payment terminals has been uncovered in the Armavir Province, resulting in the arrest of three of its members.
Early in the morning on January 11, a citizen called the Armavir Province Operational Management Center of the Police, reporting that masked individuals had attempted to commit a theft from a payment terminal on Isahakyan Street in the village of Gay, but the citizen had thwarted the attempt.
At 04:50, two 28-year-old residents of the villages of Jrarbi and Janfida in the Armavir Province were arrested in Gay on suspicion of the attempted theft. A resident of Armavir, also connected to the incident, was arrested as well. Inside his BYD vehicle, police found a mask and a pneumatic pistol. A screwdriver, an electric grinder, an iron crowbar, gloves, masks, and a pneumatic pistol were also discovered at the scene.
The detainees have admitted their guilt, stating that they attempted to steal from the payment terminal. Criminal proceedings have been initiated at the Vagharshapat Investigative Division regarding this case. All three suspects have been transferred to a detention facility. The vehicles have been moved to a specially protected area.
The police have established that this group had committed similar crimes on previous days as well. On December 28, they stole 496,000 AMD. They displayed a similar modus operandi on December 30 and 31, and on January 2.
