The French Ambassador Visits Nerkin Hand in Armenia
The French Ambassador to Armenia, Olivier Decottignies, visited the village of Nerkin Hand in the Syunik province. The village is surrounded on three sides by Azerbaijani military positions.
During the visit, the ambassador discussed the issues facing the village and its residents with the governor of Syunik, Robert Ghukasyan. He shared a photo on his Facebook page with local couples, noting that they are unable to visit their son’s grave because Azerbaijan has seized the village’s cemetery.
Updates on the situation in Nerkin Hand are ongoing. During the attack on September 13, 2022, Azerbaijani forces took control of the village’s drinking water source and cemetery. Azerbaijan has taken control of approximately 20 square kilometers of Armenian territory in that area.
