What new details are known about TRIPP?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has informed that the alienation, donation, or sale of shares of the TRIPP development company by any country or company is not possible without the consent of Armenia.
74% of the shares of the TRIPP development company belong to the USA, and 26% belong to Armenia. The document stipulates that the company is under the control of Armenia in the development and implementation of infrastructures, and any change in shares is not possible without the approval of the Armenian side.
According to Mirzoyan, the TRIPP project is a multi-layered economic mega-project. The first layer connects Armenia to the world and third countries through the territory of Azerbaijan, meaning it can export and import. Also, Armenia connects to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan; specifically, from Yeraskh, it can reach Meghri through the territory of Nakhichevan.
The second layer: the world and third countries connect with third countries through the territory of Armenia. For example, a Central Asian country [can connect] with an EU country through the territory of Armenia.
The third layer, yes, is Azerbaijan connecting both to third countries through the territory of Armenia, and the Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan connection being established. In other words, this is a mega-project of interconnectivity.
On January 13, in Washington, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RA met with the US Secretary of State to present the framework for the implementation of the TRIPP project. The program aims to create multimodal transit interconnectivity through the territory of Armenia, improving regional trade routes, connecting Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, and expanding trade opportunities from Central Asia to Europe.
