Winners of the 2026 Armenian Chess Championships announced

The Chess Federation of Armenia has informed that the winners of the 2026 Armenian Chess Championships have been determined. In the women’s championship, Anahit Mkrtchyan won the champion’s title, scoring 6.5 points out of a possible 9.

In the men’s championship, Grandmaster Manuel Petrosyan emerged as the best once again. He earned 6 points out of 9 and became the champion of Armenia for the second time in his career. Manuel Petrosyan had previously become the champion of the RA in 2022.

As a reminder, the opening ceremony of the Highest League tournaments of the 86th Armenian Men’s and 81st Women’s Chess Championships took place on January 12 at 15:00 at the Tigran Petrosian Chess House-School. The first round started on January 13 at 15:00.

Before the final round of the tournament, the leaders of the men’s championship were Manuel Petrosyan, Zaven Andriasian, and Artur Davtyan, while the leaders in the women’s championship were Anahit Mkrtchyan and Astghik Hakobyan.
