Plane crashes on Colombia-Venezuela border

A Beech 1900D light aircraft belonging to Satena airlines has crashed near the city of Cúcuta, located on the Colombia-Venezuela border.

At least 15 people have died as a result of the crash; according to preliminary information, there are no survivors.

The aircraft disappeared from radar near midnight, after which contact with it was lost.

It is known that the plane was engaged in cargo transportation; however, the nature of the cargo has not been officially reported.

At the time of the crash, politicians were also on board, including a congressman and a Senate candidate.

Search and rescue operations continue at the scene. The exact causes of the crash have not yet been determined.

It is noted that days before the incident, the US Air Force had carried out operations to destroy vessels in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela, claiming they were being used for drug trafficking.

At this moment, there is no official information to confirm or exclude a possible link between the US Armed Forces and the plane crash.
