Employees of “Rossia” fair hold protest action

In Yerevan, employees of the “Rossia” fair have held a protest action, claiming they are being forced to vacate their stalls.

The protesters gathered at the entrance of the fair. According to them, they have worked at the same location for years under lease agreements, and now they are being asked to leave and move elsewhere. According to circulated reports, they were offered spaces at the “Yerevan” fair. However, the employees refuse.

One of the protesters mentioned that they have been operating at the fair for about 30 years and wish to continue their work at the same location after renovations. They demand that the stalls be provided to them again, even under the condition of a higher rent. According to the participants of the action, many employees have loan obligations and are facing the threat of unemployment.

Some traders presented their lease agreements, noting that they are valid until 2030, and, according to their claims, the contract does not provide for unilateral termination by the fair management.

During the protest, a signature collection was also organized with the demand to provide stalls to the same traders after the renovation and to grant additional time for the sale of goods.

It should be noted that the “Rossia” fair belongs to Khachatur Sukiasyan.
