No ban on artificial termination of pregnancy planned in Armenia
Another baseless article by journalist Okay Deprem, titled “The Ban on Artificial Termination of Pregnancy is Now Also on Armenia’s Agenda,” has been published in a Turkish media outlet, containing obviously false and misleading claims.
The Ministry of Health reminds that no amendments to the existing regulations regarding the artificial termination of pregnancy or any initiative for a ban are planned within the Law “On Human Reproductive Health and Reproductive Rights.”
It is also noted that any legislative initiative in the Republic of Armenia is subject to public discussion, and awareness-raising activities are conducted prior to any possible changes.
This is not Okay Deprem’s first manipulative article. The latter has repeatedly published and continues to publish unconfirmed materials regarding Armenia’s state institutions that are not substantiated by official information. A few days ago, the Turkish journalist claimed that Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had approved an LGBT community parade to be held in Yerevan on April 7.
Such publications fall within the logic of information manipulation and hybrid influence toolkits and can contribute to public disinformation.
